GREEN LIGHT CAMPAIGN

Have you ever felt like a duck on water? Calmly gliding across the water, but paddling swiftly to keep you momentum under the water? We all have our ups and downs. When our emotions, thoughts and behaviors get in the way of our daily routines, we need to pay closer attention and seek support that helps us get back on track.

May is Trauma and Mental Health Awareness Month.  Carbon Monroe Pike System of Care encourages county organizations, schools and community members to join in our efforts to let people know how important it is to talk about mental health, mental illness  and mental wellness.  There are several ways you can show your support to create an open dialogue, learn more and reduce stigma.  One way is to join the GREEN LIGHT CAMPAIGN-light up your space green to show your support and encouragement to promote positive mental health. Attend a training or workshop to learn about the impact of trauma, suicide prevention or mental illness signs and symptoms. Become familiar with county resources and services. Be an advocate for yourself and others by joining workgroups and initiatives throughout our local area.

S.O.C.K. Book Community

The SOCK (Share Our Culture with Kindness) Book Community was created through a partnership of the Carbon Monroe Pike System of Care Cultural Linguistic Competency Committee and local libraries to spread cultural awareness through reading. A variety of books for children, teens and adults were donated to each library for general circulation to the public.  Community members are invited to spend time at their local library to learn about people who may look, behave and have experiences different from their own.  We can try on someone else's perspective through reading, just like we try on different kinds of socks.
